Snehakaram is a project initiated by the Church commemorating the 80th Birthday Celebration of Dr. Joseph Mar Thoma Metropolitan. One of the most serious problems that we face today in society is related to the prohibitively high and constantly escalating expenses needed for the treatment of major ailments like Cancer, AIDS, and diseases related to Heart, Lungs and Kidneys.
The unbearable cost of medical expenses land the poor among us in a most pitiable condition. It was, with a view to address this pressing need, to help the poor patients around us that, the Sabha Council decided to launch the ‘Snehakaram’ project in connection with the birthday celebrations of our Metropolitan. The Sabha Prathinidhi Mandalam resolved to approve this project subsequently.
As part of the 80th birthday celebration of the Metropolitan, 80 patients undergoing treatment would be helped through this project. In order to make this an ongoing project of the Church, it has been decided to raise Rs.5 crore as a Corpus Fund, interest accrued from which shall be utilized to help needy patients, in future.
Requesting all the beloved members of our Church to whole-heartedly join this project to make it a great blessing. Assistance to the tune of Rs.50,000/- will be given for a surgery.
By donating Rs.50,000/- you can save a precious life. All those who are able and willing to donate this way should come forward to sponsor one poor patient each.
The appeal is to bear in mind the scriptural exhortation “to remember the poor” (Galatians 2:10) and generously contribute towards this cause.

ശാസ്ത്ര സാങ്കേതിക വിദ്യയിലും വിവര സാങ്കേതിക വിദ്യയിലും വൈദ്യശാസ്ത്ര രംഗത്തും മനുഷ്യന്‍ അഭൂതപൂര്‍വ്വമായ പുരോഗതി കൈവരിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട് എന്നാല്‍ മാരകമായ പല രോഗങ്ങളേയും കീഴ്‌പ്പെടുത്തുവാന്‍ ആധുനിക വൈദ്യശാസ്ത്രത്തിന് ഇനിയും കഴിഞ്ഞിട്ടില്ല. മാരക രോഗങ്ങള്‍ക്കുള്ള ചികിത്‌സാ ചെലവുകള്‍ സാമ്പത്തികമായി കഴിവുള്ളവര്‍ക്കു പോലും താങ്ങാവുന്നതിലും അധികമാകുമ്പോള്‍ സാധുക്കളായ രോഗികളുടെ സ്ഥിതി എത്ര ദയനീയമാണ്. ചികിത്‌സിക്കാന്‍ പണം ഇല്ലാത്തതു കൊണ്ട് മരണത്തെ മാത്രം ആശ്രയമായി കഴിയുന്നവര്‍ ധാരാളം. ഈ സ്ഥിതി മനസ്സിലാക്കി ഈ വെല്ലുവിളിയോട് സഭ പ്രതികരിക്കുന്നതിന്റെ ഫലമാണ് സ്‌നേഹകരം പ്രോജക്ട്.

അഭി. മാര്‍ത്തോമ്മാ മെത്രാപ്പോലീത്ത ഡോ. ജോസഫ് മാര്‍ത്തോമ്മാ തിരുമേനിയുടെ എണ്‍പതാം പിറന്നാള്‍ ആഘോഷിപ്പാന്‍ സഭ തയ്യാറായപ്പോള്‍ പാവപ്പെട്ട മനുഷ്യരോടുള്ള തിരുമേനിയുടെ താല്പര്യം മനസ്സിലാക്കി സഭാമണ്ഡലത്തിന്റെ തീരുമാനപ്രകാരം സഭാകൗണ്‍സില്‍ സാധുരോഗികളുടെ സഹായത്തിനായി രൂപം കൊടുത്ത പദ്ധതിയാണ് സ്‌നേഹകരം പ്രോജക്ട്. ദൈവസ്‌നേഹത്തിന്റെ കരസ്പര്‍ശമാണ് സ്‌നേഹകരം പദ്ധതിയിലൂടെ നമ്മുടെ സമൂഹത്തിലെ എല്ലാ വിഭാഗങ്ങളിലുമുള്ള ജനങ്ങളും അനുഭവിച്ചറിയുന്നത്. ‘എന്റെ ഈ ഏറ്റവും ചെറിയ സഹോദരന്മാരില്‍ ഒരുത്തനു നിങ്ങള്‍ ചെയ്‌തേടത്തോളം എല്ലാം എനിക്കു ചെയ്തു.’ (മത്താ: 25:40)

മുകളില്‍ വിവരിച്ച സാമൂഹ്യ പശ്ചാത്തലത്തില്‍ ഹൃദ്‌രോഗം, വൃക്കരോഗം, ക്യാന്‍സര്‍, എയ്ഡ്‌സ് എന്നീ മാരക രോഗങ്ങള്‍ മൂലം പ്രയാസം അനുഭവിക്കുന്ന സാധുരോഗികളുടെ ചികിത്‌സാ സഹായത്തിനായി നീട്ടപ്പെടുന്ന ദൈവീക കരമാണ് സ്‌നേഹകരം
ധനസഹായം ചെയ്യുന്നത് എങ്ങനെ?
ആദ്യത്തെ വര്‍ഷത്തില്‍ 80 പേര്‍ക്ക് ഈ പദ്ധതിയില്‍ നിന്നും ഒരു രോഗിക്ക് അന്‍പതിനായിരം രൂപ വരെ സഹായം നല്‍കും. പിന്നീടുള്ള വര്‍ഷങ്ങളില്‍ 80 പേര്‍ക്കെങ്കിലും സഹായം ലഭിക്കത്തക്കവണ്ണം സമാഹരിക്കുന്ന 5 കോടി രൂപാ ഒരു കോര്‍പ്പസ് ഫണ്ടായി ബാങ്കില്‍ നിക്ഷേപിച്ച് അതിന്റെ പലിശ ഉപയോഗിച്ച് ചികിത്‌സാ സഹായം ചെയ്യും.
